Writing with Style !

This was our last Art in East Herts workshops.

We had a fabulous day on Saturday with two Calligraphy sessions where we discovered two very different styles of calligraphy, Unicial and Gothic. These were traditional scripts and we learnt some history how they developed over time from Jane Lappage our Artist. Jane used a visualiser so we could all see how she wrote the letters on the overhead screen then we spent time practicing to get the letters right, Unicial was more of a rounded style and Gothic more angular. So each style was unique.

Using different coloured inks and watercolours we learnt how to make the letters colourful and glittery! Once we mastered the lettering we undertook some small projects using the lettering in a card and painting some lovely designs to make some small masterpieces to take away with us.

Everyone loved the sessions we all needed more time to enjoy our new talent!
