Dutch Delight !
We had another fabulous day with Lis Moon who taught us the rudiments of press flower art at our workshop at the Dutch Marketplace where we were amongst the beautiful flowers at the nursery in the Orangery conservatory. Although it was a swelting hot day we all kept our cool. Despite the heat we enjoyed our welcome refreshments outside and listened to Lis briefing us what we would be doing at the workshop. It was a relaxing day where we learnt about different flowers and how

Flowers in Spring
We had a lovely day with Nicky Hunter our wonderful professional floral watercolour artist. She started us off by sketching and developing a composition of flowers from some reference pictures. Then we did our paint mixing and using consistency of different paints from 'skimmed milk to cream', we painted a soft wash as the background which we layered to create a hint of the drawing we had sketched. We left our work to settle. We then used different colours to develop the flow

Sun Shines on Students
What a fabulous day and what a great venue to hold our Pressed Floral Art Workshop at the Dutch Marketplace amongst the beautiful flowers in the nursery. It was a relaxing day where students learnt about different flowers from the delightful Lis Moon. She offered an array of pressed flowers and leaves and taught everyone how to arrange and glue these delicate flowers on cards. Lots of patience required but even mistakes or tears where easily rectified. Nothing was wasted a tr

Our First Workshop 2026
We had our first workshop this year and invited the 'force of nature' that is Deana our excellent art teacher back to do a landscape painting workshop in Acrylics. We had some beginners and more experienced artists but we all learnt something new. Check out the wonderful masterpieces we all produced! We started with plonking the paint on the canvas that eventually became the background. Then we added the tree and flowers. Acrylics is always a tad messy but we enjoyed a relaxi

The Magic of Watercolours
Our last workshop of the year was a resounding success! From five star reviews for our teacher to five star reviews for our lunch, our students were really pleased with their experience today! Our inspirational tutor Deana Kim Page came up trumps again, drawing amazing results from both beginners and the experienced as we played with masking fluid and wet on wet techniques to create a set of six unique Christmas cards each. Messy, crazy fun!

Flighty Finches
We had an amazing session with the lovely Nicky Hunter who helped us all recreate her beautiful painting of Finches. We first did the background with a wet on wet technique and using a variety of colours from milky consistency to creamy consistency we painted the flowers and stems that our Finches would be perched on. After a fab lunch prepared by Wayne with lots of dishes to choose from, we settled back to finish our painting of the Finches. We followed Nicky's direction on

Masai Warriors
We were delighted to welcome back a watercolour favourite Jake Winkle. Jake showed us how to create two masterpieces, Masai warriors and a snowy landscape scene. There was a full class of students who were lead through the preparations for sketching the warriors and painting the background, then faces, bodies and final their spears and skirts. We put on the final touches of shadows and reflections in the puddle at their feet. We had a lovely 2 course lunch all vegetarian and

Glorious Glass Fusion
Everyone enjoyed creating their glass plates using their own individual artistic flair. The wonderful Laura Brooks-Payne led us through how to use the glass cutting tools safely and explaining all the different glass pieces and particles available in varying sizes and colours and how to use them creatively. It was a fabulous morning with a well earned break for cheese cake, lemon drizzle, fruit salad and a chat with friends.

Gel Printing Pleasure
Sunday's sold out workshop sponsored by Art in East Herts saw our students get messy and creative as we learned the techniques of gel printing with our tutor, Holly Casey. Holly gave some incredible demonstrations and was on hand throughout to help us make some beautiful designs, each one different to the next, using layering techniques, printing with feathers and leaves, and even using shiny magazine photos to create extraordinary atmospheric prints. The time flew by, and we
