It was a full house today at our watercolour workshop at The Dutch Nursery! After a welcome cup of tea and a cinnamon bun, we began our latest watercolour workshop with Deana Kim Page, which focused on spring flowers. The sun came out for us as we worked in our classroom for morning - the beautiful Orangery at The Dutch Nursery - as Deana showed us step by step how to use loose watercolour to achieve a background, then how to pencil outline flowers over the shapes, constructing a beautiful and lively pen and wash painting. Many of us were complete beginners, but thanks to Deana's hands-on tuition and inspiring ideas, we all came away with paintings that we were proud of. As usual, Deana supplied all our materials which meant that we hadn't needed to go out and buy paper and paints before the workshop, but several of us were vowing to go to Hobbycraft to buy our own so that we could carry on creating at home! When we'd finished, we headed into the renowned Dutch Café for lunch together. It was a wonderfully constructive workshop, and a great social. We can't wait for next one on 18th May!
